Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas

In my opinion, a good hotel is defined by the quality of its beds. Everything else is a "nice to have". My partner and I shared a king spa suite for 7 nights. First impressions upon entrance was the amenities we're quite dated, that said, they seemed clean and there was some fresh paint and wall features to bring it up to have more of a modern appearance. The pool looked nice too. Problems arose after out first night where we had a terrible sleep due to very tired mattresses (2x singles zipped together to make a king). We notified the front desk and they said they'd tell house keeping to change the matters. There was no change, night 2 was horrible, when we complained we were told the booking manager was away and nothing could be done about it. This continued for 5 nights to the point where we couldn't stand it anymore. The booking manager had returned at this time and offered us another spa suite. The bed was much better though still tired however we slept. There was no compensation or upgrade, we did receive a card and some cookies as an apology. This experience genuinely tainted our one holiday in 2025 and left is both with back pain. Housekeeping was functional, bed was made but that's it. Floors were not clean, glasses not washed. Lastly, if you're a couple looking for a quiet getaway be aware the pool is often occupied with screaming kids and babies. Frankly, this is not a 5 star hotel but more like a 3.5 star. Peppers, please lift your game.
